Sam Griffiths has been in charge of Derby County Women since the 2018/19 season.
Griffiths has enjoyed a long and successful career at Derby to date and it all began in 2009 when she first joined the club as a player before injury ended her playing days.
Prior to hanging up her boots she wore the captain’s armband on several occasions for the Rams and was an influential player.
In 2018, Griffiths was appointed manager of Derby County Women with her first game a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough, while she went on to hit the 100 competitive games in the hotseat milestone during the 2022/23 season.
In the 2023/24 season, Griffiths led the Ewes in a history-making season which saw them win the FA Women's National League Plate for the first time. Her side were 3-0 victors over Cambridge United in the Final in April 2024 at FC United of Manchester's home ground.
Griffiths, a UEFA A License coach, was previously the Head Coach of Derby County Women's Centre of Excellence Under-17s and also took up the role of Director of Football in 2016 prior to taking over from John Bennett.
Away from Derby County Women, Griffiths has worked for the Football Association since 2008 in a variety of roles including FA Skills Team Leader, Regional Coaching Mentor Officer for the East Midlands and Women and Girls Coach Development Officer.
