Derby County added Rohan Luthra to their goalkeeping department following a spell training with the squad in the summer of 2024.
Luthra joined the Rams on a one-year contract which will run for the 2024/25 season.
The
shot-stopper, previously on the books of Crystal Palace and Cardiff
City, joined Paul Warne’s squad on their pre-season training camp in
Spain ahead of the new campaign and came off the bench in the side’s friendly victory
over Stockport County.
Luthra remained in training with Derby’s squad, under the watchful eye of Goalkeeping Coach Andy Warrington, at Moor Farm upon their return home and remained part of the matchday squad for the Rams’ remaining pre-season friendlies ahead of the new campaign.
The goalkeeper joined in a role previously occupied by Scott Loach, who retired in
the summer at the end of his contract and took up a coaching
position in the club’s Academy set-up.
Luthra came through the ranks in Crystal Palace’s Academy set-up and, having represented England at Under-15 level, he went on to earn his first professional contract in the summer 2020.
Having turned professional with the Eagles, Luthra also spent time on loan at non-league side South Park FC to gain senior experience.
He went on to leave Palace in the summer of 2021 and linked up with the Cardiff City.
Luthra went on to spend the next three seasons with the Bluebirds and he made his senior debut off the bench as a late substitute in a 2-0 defeat at Preston North End in March 2023.
The goalkeeper had time out on loan in the 2023/24 season with National League South side Slough Town, making 12 league appearances in total.
He also featured in their FA Cup campaign which saw them reach the First Round of the competition and holding League Two Grimsby Town to a 1-1 draw, before losing in the Replay.
