Purchase Ledger Supervisor

Derby County Football Club are seeking to recruit an experienced Finance professional as a Purchase Ledger Supervisor.

The successful candidate will fully oversee the Purchase Ledger function, including processing supplier invoices, raising and reconciling payments, supplier statement reconciliations and dealing with supplier account queries by managing the Accounts Payable shared mailbox.

The post holder will support the improvement and maintaining the existing Accounts Payable controls and associated processes. They will also assist with procurement, ordering and management of the purchase order system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing purchase invoices involving nominal coding through the Kefron purchase order system and reconciling to purchase orders.
  • Assisting in the preparation of supplier payment runs, for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Dealing with supplier queries, via email and over the telephone, on a prompt basis and ensuring the Accounts Payable shared mailboxes maintained on a regular basis.
  • Reconciling supplier statements as part of the month end process.
  • Ensuring purchase orders have been accurately raised by each Department, reviewing these weekly and closing purchase orders which are no longer relevant.
  • Maintaining integrity of Purchase Ledger controls, monitoring system approval workflows and validating supplier details provided on an ongoing basis.
  • Assisting the Finance Department with procurement by ensuring the Club receives value for money through obtaining relevant supplier quotes where appropriate.
  • Maintain and monitor the Aged Creditors’ report on a monthly basis (or as and when required).
  • Reconciliation of Club credit card transactions
  • Oversight and responsibility for processing staff expenses via the Club's expenses management system (SAP Concur).
  • Oversight, handling and reconciliation of petty cash accounts across all locations.
  • Liaising with external auditors in relation to any audit queries relating to the Accounts Payable controls and associated processes as and when required.

  • Essential Experience

  • Experience of managing the Purchase Ledger function in a busy finance department.
  • Kefron (or other similar invoice processing software)
  • Netsuite (or other similar accounting software)
  • Confident, Resilient and Self Motivated
  • Excellent Communications skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent Presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, target driven environment
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Work using own initiative and as part of a team

  • Desirable Qualifications

  • 5 GCSE’s (grades A-C) or equivalent

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

    The role is full-time, 35 hours per week, based at Pride Park Stadium.
