Derby County Head Coach John Eustace has thrown down the gauntlet for his side to 'maintain belief and momentum' as they prepare to take on Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship at the MKM Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
The Rams claimed three points at the Hawthorns in a 3-1 triumph over West Bromwich Albion in their last outing on Easter Monday.
The win saw Derby bounce back after they were beaten 1-0 by Luton Town on Good Friday at Pride Park Stadium and sets up the Rams for another crucial bottom-of-the-table clash on Saturday when they face Hull.
Derby currently reside in 21st place and outside the bottom three on goal difference with two games to go in the 2024/25 season, and opponents Hull are one place above, with just two points dividing the sides.
Eustace sat down with RamsTV to look ahead to Saturday’s clash with the Tigers.
On a strong reaction from the team to win 3-1 against West Brom…
That's all we asked for from the group. Obviously, it was a disappointing result on Friday against Luton. I thought we were really good in the second half against them, but it was a disappointing first half. The way we reacted, at a tough place to go in the Hawthorns, was really pleasing.
On striker Jerry Yates’ role in the side’s successes after netting double figures…
He's been outstanding since we've come in. His work rate and attitude has been second to none, and he leads by example. There’s another two huge games coming up, and he's got to continue doing that. He's certainly been a top performer for me since I've been here.
On Ebou Adams' impact on the team after being named the Supporters' Club Player of the Season…
I just love his endeavour. I love his heart and his attitude, too. He's a great player at this level, and I think he's really led by example.
On facing Hull City at the MKM Stadium…
They spent a lot of money in January and brought a lot of good players in, and they've got a quality squad there. They're going to be a really difficult opponent, but one we're really looking forward to challenging.
On the support the team receives on the road, with another sold-out away end on Humberside…
I want them to just keep believing in what we're doing and keep the faith. We're obviously grateful for all the support home and away, and hopefully we can do the fans proud again over the next couple of games.
