John Eustace says he’s pleased Derby County will have a quick opportunity to put Good Friday’s defeat to Luton Town out of their system when they head to West Bromwich Albion on Easter Monday (3pm kick-off).

Derby were beaten 1-0 at Pride Park Stadium by the Hatters on Friday, only their second defeat in eight outings, as two teams battling for survival in the Sky Bet Championship went head-to-head.

Despite the reverse, the Rams’ second half display saw them create an abundance of chances to claim something from the contest but Luton, who were plying their trade in the Premier League a year ago, held firm.

The turnaround over the Easter weekend means Eustace’s side are back in action quickly when they head across the Midlands to take on Tony Mowbray’s play-off chasing Baggies at the Hawthorns.

When asked if he was happy to have a fixture coming around so quickly, Eustace said: “Absolutely. We want a game as quickly as we can now.

“It is an opportunity to put things right [after the defeat to Luton Town on Friday] and we’ll make sure we’re fit and ready to go.

“Whoever plays for us, they’ll show that fighting spirit that we have. We have to keep working hard and showing that belief.”

Looking ahead to the clash against West Brom, Eustace added: “They’re a great team, a footballing team pushing for the top six.

“They have a lot of top-level experience and it will be a tough game, but we’ll be ready for it.”
