Derby County will return to action in the Sky Bet Championship following the March international break with a home clash against Preston North End on Wednesday night (7:45pm kick-off).

The Rams will be looking to build on the momentum gained after a run of three victories in a row against Blackburn Rovers, Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle saw John Eustace’s side notch up vital points in the league table as they look to remain in the second tier.

They will face the Lilywhites under the lights in their first clash of April. Paul Heckingbottom’s side sit 14th in the Championship with 10 wins and 17 draws so far this season, while in cup competitions they have excelled this term.

Derby shared points with Preston in the reverse fixture at Deepdale back in November, with Jerry Yates’ headed goal cancelling out Leeds United loanee Sam Greenwood’s opener in a 1-1 draw.

An FA Cup run for Preston saw the fixture between the Rams and the Lancashire outfit put back by four days. They were knocked out against Premier League side Aston Villa on Sunday with a 3-0 loss at the Quarter-Final stage.
