We look at what events are coming up during the month of April for the Men’s First Team, the Under-21s and Under-18s at Academy level, the Women’s First Team, club events, community campaigns, and birthdays across Derby County.


John Eustace’s side started last month with a narrow defeat to Middlesbrough but went on to take maximum points over their next three league games. Triumphs over Coventry City were added to by a dramatic 3-2 win over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park in the Rams’ last match of March.

The Ewes bagged a win in their only home game of the month in March, as they scored two without reply against Halifax. But Sam Griffiths’ side were also edged out by East Midlands rivals and league leaders Nottingham Forest at the City Ground later in the month.

April is the penultimate month of the season for the Men’s First Team and Under-18s, and sees the last actions of the 2024/25 campaign for the Women’s First Team and Men’s Under-21s, with 15 games lined up across the month.



Wednesday 2nd April – Men’s First Team Vs Preston North End (H) 7.45pm

The Rams kick off the month with a home tie against Preston North End at Pride Park Stadium.

Saturday 5th April – McFarland celebrates birthday!

Club Ambassador and legendary 1971/72 and 1974/75 league title-winning defender Roy McFarland will celebrate his 77th birthday.

Saturday 5th April – Men’s First Team Vs Swansea City (A) 3pm

John Eustace’s side’s first away trip of the month comes when they head to South Wales to face Swansea City in Championship action.

Sunday 6th April – Rollinson celebrates birthday!

Derby County Women’s founder and current Club Secretary Sheila Rollinson will celebrate her birthday.

Monday 7th April – Men’s Under-21s Vs Arsenal (A) 7pm

Keith Briggs’ Under-21s side play their penultimate game of the Premier League 2 fixture schedule with a trip to Boreham Wood to face Arsenal.


Tuesday 8th April – Men’s First Team Vs Burnley (H) 7.45pm

Scott Parker’s Clarets will be Derby’s opponents under the lights at Pride Park Stadium.

Friday 11th April – Men’s Under-21s Vs Southampton (H) 7pm

The Young Rams’ final scheduled Premier League 2 game will see them take on Southampton at Moor Farm Training Centre.

Saturday 12th April – Men’s First Team Vs Portsmouth (A) 3pm

Fratton Park will be the destination for Derby in the Championship as the Rams look to do the double over Pompey.


Sunday 13th April – Women’s First Team Vs Hull City Ladies (H) 2pm

Sam Griffiths’ Ewes will host Hull City Ladies in their final home game of the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division season.

Tuesday 15th April – Mendez-Laing celebrates birthday!

Rams’ attacker Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will celebrate his 33rd birthday.

Tuesday 15th April – Men’s Under-18s Vs Everton (H) 12pm

Danny Maye’s Under-18s will see their first action of April with a U18 Premier League – North match against Everton at Moor Farm Training Centre.

Tuesday 15th April – Men’s Under-21s Vs Notts County (H) 1pm

Notts County await the Under-21s at Moor Farm in their final fixture of the 2024/25 season.


Friday 18th April – Men’s First Team Vs Luton Town (H) 12.30pm

Easter Friday action is lined up for the Rams in the Sky Bet Championship. Luton Town will face John Eustace’s side in their penultimate home game of the campaign at Pride Park Stadium.

Friday 18th April – Men’s Under-18s Vs Manchester United (A) 1pm

A trip to Carrington Training Complex for U18 Premier League – North action will see the Under-18s take on Manchester United.


Monday 21st April – Men’s First Team Vs West Bromwich Albion (A) 3pm

Derby will continue the end-of-season Championship run-in with a trip to the Hawthorns for their clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Saturday 26th April – Men’s Under-18s Vs Manchester City (A) 12pm

Manchester City will be the opponents for Danny Maye’s team’s last game of the month in the U18 Premier League – North.


Saturday 26th April – Men’s First Team Vs Hull City (A) 3pm

The Tigers will host Derby at the MKM Stadium for the final away fixture of the 2024/25 Championship season.


Sunday 27th April – Women’s First Team Vs Stourbridge (A) 2pm

Derby County Women’s season will come to a close in the Black Country with a tie against Stourbridge.


Monday 28th April – Johnson celebrates birthday!

Former Rams midfielder and current Under-18s and Academy coach Bradley Johnson will celebrate his 38th birthday.


Tuesday 29th April – Thompson celebrates birthday!

Midfielder Liam Thompson, who recently made his 100th appearance for Derby County, will celebrate his 23rd birthday.


Wednesday 30th April – Griffiths celebrates birthday!

Derby County Women’s Head Coach Sam Griffiths will celebrate her birthday.
