Defender Ryan Nyambe says the Derby County squad will ‘keep heads up and keep fighting’ after they went down 1-0 against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams were denied points on Teesside as Finn Azaz’s 80th minute goal saw Middlesbrough come out on top in the Sky Bet Championship clash at the Riverside Stadium.
Derby will now have to dust themselves down and get ready for two vital back-to-back home fixtures, starting with a clash against Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park Stadium next Saturday before the visit of Coventry City a few days later.
Nyambe spoke to RamsTV to give his reflections on the defeat against Michael Carrick's side.
On the narrow defeat at the Riverside Stadium…
I thought we limited them to few chances for most of the game. In the second half, they didn't really cause that many problems; it's just one of those games where, again, it's our own doing with a mistake at the end. I think we should have been able to get a point out of it, to be honest.
On needing to capitalise and profit from good moments in games…
It's just from our own doing; we've played alright and it's just come from our own mistakes that we lose the game. We had a couple of chances to score, it just doesn't fall for us at the minute. It’s frustrating, but we've got to keep our heads up and keep fighting.
There's still 11 games left. Our first order is to keep fighting, keep our heads up and stick together because we know that it's not over until it's over.
On the Rams’ faithful following boosting the team…
Football is made by the fans. They have travelled up here to support us, in a difficult situation. When you're giving them a clap at the end, it's tough - you look at yourself and feel you let them down, but we're grateful for their support and we are all fighting for them.
