Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has reiterated the Derby County squad’s fighting mentality and the importance of remaining positive and finding strength going forward in the Sky Bet Championship after falling to a 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall.
The Rams’ shot-stopper saved Josh Coburn’s penalty in the latter stages of regulation time and looked to have secured a point for John Eustace's side, but the visitors hit back late on as Coburn got his goal in added time to cruelly deny Derby and claim the points.
Zetterstrom spoke to RamsTV after the match and made clear the squad’s attitude and belief to get points on the board going forward, despite the gut-wrenching nature of the defeat.
On losing late on…
It’s very disappointing. You're going to feel that way straight after a game like this. No matter what, if you do look at the bigger picture and we look at what we've done throughout the week, and throughout these 100 minutes today, I'm very, very sure that we can find strength in this.
The effort we've put in today and the effort we've put in throughout the week has been very good. I genuinely do believe that we are going to find strength in this. It's very tough now, as it will be when you lose like this. There’s another game coming up and that's the main focus now.
On making the penalty save…
I was buzzing straight after the save, but football is played for 90 minutes plus extra time. So, you just have to remain calm. What happened after is extremely disappointing. That goes for me and that goes for the entire team. You just have to look at the positive bits, as of tomorrow.
On getting another full week’s training in with the new coaching staff and John Eustace…
The change in coaches does give a lot of energy to the group. You could just tell that from the way he works, on and off the pitch, that things are going to happen. The work we've put in this week has been extremely good. We have to be very positive throughout these remaining weeks, we're going to achieve good things on the training ground and the matchdays.
