Derby County Under-21s tasted a narrow 2-1 defeat on the road at Leicester City in Premier League 2 on Monday night.
The Rams came into the fixture buoyed by a 3-0 win over Mansfield Town Reserves in The Central League last Wednesday.
Jake Buxton’s side were in good form in the league, too, with two wins and two draws in their last five outings ahead of facing the Foxes.
After a battling first-half, the scoreline was locked at 0-0 in Leicestershire.
Logan Briggs broke the deadlock for the hosts nine minutes into the second period and was assisted by half-time substitute Tommy Neale, who made a swift impact on the game.
The duo were creator and scorer once again as Leicester and Briggs doubled their advantage in the 75thminute.
Derby fought back and Darren Robinson netted in the first minute of added time, with at least five more minutes remaining.
However, the Foxes' defence held firm and the hosts claimed all three points.
Jake Buxton’s side will look to get back to winning ways when they return to home turf at Matlock Town's Proctor Cars Stadium and go head-to-head with West Ham United in Premier League 2 on Friday 28th February (7pm kick-off).
