Eiran Cashin has left Derby County to join Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 23-year-old centre-back departs on a permanent deal for
a significant undisclosed fee to end his long association with the Rams.
Upon receiving interest from Brighton, despite the club’s clear intention to retain his services, the player’s wishes and the fee on offer made a deal the best conclusion for all parties.
Cashin rose through the ranks of the Academy and after signing as a scholar ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, he was a key part of the team that won the Under-18 Premier League and earned qualification for the UEFA Youth League.
He made his breakthrough to the Men’s First Team squad midway through 2021/22 before establishing himself as a regular during the following season in Sky Bet League One, as he made 52 appearances in all competitions and won the first of his two Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season awards.
The defender played all-but-two league games as Paul Warne’s side won promotion back to the second tier last term and he received national recognition for his performances, with inclusion in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
He has gone on to establish himself as a key performer back in the Championship this term, making 22 appearances and scoring once in the 4-0 home win over Portsmouth in December.
In total, Cashin made 144 appearances in black and white, scoring six goals.
Everyone at Derby County would like to thank Eiran for his service to the club and wish him every success in the future.
