Derby County will go head-to-head with promotion-chasing Sheffield United at Pride Park Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
The Rams come into the game after a narrow 2-1 defeat against Cardiff City a week ago - that saw striker Lars-Jørgen Salvesen score his first goal for the club. Paul Warne’s side are looking to stem a frustrating run of results when they come up against the Blades.
United come into the game after falling to only their fifth defeat of the season, when they fell to a 3-0 loss on home turf against Hull City last Friday. Chris Wilder’s team are pushing for promotion and sitting second in the Championship, though, with 18 wins and six draws from 29 games so far this term.
The Blades came out on top in the reverse fixture back in September, with Gustavo Hamer’s free-kick goal the only thing to separate the two sides in a 1-0 win for the Blades.
Team News
Defender Matt Clarke is expected to be available for selection after joining Derby on a permanent deal as the club’s second signing of the January transfer window earlier this week.
Fellow new signing Lars-Jorgen Salvesen is also expected to be in contention to start once more after scoring his first goal for the club against the Bluebirds when he made his full debut at Cardiff last Saturday.
Winger Corey Blackett-Taylor and striker Dajaune Brown both sustained hamstring injuries against Sunderland last Tuesday that will see them out of action for a prolonged period as they recover, while defenders Kane Wilson (hamstring), Callum Elder (groin) and Nat Phillips (calf) are sidelined.
Centre-back Curtis Nelson suffered a severe knee injury against Watford two weeks ago and will be out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
