Midfielder Ben Osborn says Derby County will need to be ready for a physical and competitive game at Luton Town in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday (8pm kick-off).
The 30-year-old midfielder made his 15th league appearance of the season in the Rams’ scintillating 4-0 home win over Portsmouth last week.
Derby will be looking to continue their momentum when they make the trip to Bedfordshire on Friday night to face the Hatters in their final fixture before Christmas.
Osborn spoke to RamsTVbefore training on Wednesday morning to preview the Championship clash at Kenilworth Road.
On last Friday’s 4-0 win against Portsmouth…
It’s always good to get a result under the floodlights. Getting a much-needed win in that style was really enjoyable. The performance had a bit of everything. The win against Bristol City in August was also pretty good, but I think the way we started the game and took our chances against Portsmouth made it fairly comfortable pretty quickly, which is quite rare in the Championship.
I did feel that the performances were getting better in the last five or six games, especially in possessio. We're starting to put some more passes together and patterns of play. It felt like something like that was coming.
On playing in a deeper midfield role…
I feel like I can get more involved in the game, with more touches and also link with people more easily across the whole pitch. I've had a good relationship with Curtis Nelson, Eiran Cashin and Jacob Widell Zetterström, trying to bring the ball through the thirds a little bit more. I don't want to give away too much of the tactical information, but it's been enjoyable.
On opponents for Luton Town…
They've got quality all the way through the team. It will be a physical, competitive game. They'll be looking to come at us from the start and play at the highest intensity and try and make us defend as early as possible. We're going to have to be right at it to get a result.
