Ebou Adams’ beaming smile said it all following Derby County’s 4-0 home win over Portsmouth on Friday evening.

Derby picked up three valuable points in the Sky Bet Championship under the Pride Park Stadium floodlights against last season’s League One champions in impressive fashion.

Paul Warne’s side steamed into a three-goal lead at the break thanks to finishes from Kane Wilson, Eiran Cashin and Adams, with the midfielder netting his second goal in as many home games.

An own goal in the second half from Marlon Pack rounded off the scoring as the Rams backed up a hard-fought 0-0 draw at promotion-chasing Burnley in midweek with maximum points on home turf.

A win and a clean sheet was the ideal way to round off a busy week of action on the pitch and Adams felt a victory with the Rams at their clinical best was a long time coming.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Adams said: “A game like that was overdue.

“We’ve had many performances where we should have come away with a lot more goals.

“We were clinical in this match and we kept a clean sheet too, which was the icing on the cake.

“Now we just want to continue with these types of performances.”

He added: “I am buzzing for the boys to get a 4-0 win and we can all enjoy the weekend.”

Derby are back in Championship action on Friday 20th December when they take on Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in their final fixture before Christmas.
