Kane Wilson expressed his and the Derby County squad’s frustration after falling to a late 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Derby had taken the lead early on in the contest through a well-worked move that Ebou Adams tucked home.

Wednesday captain Barry Bannan equalised with a strike from the edge of the penalty area just after the hour mark to set up a tense ending to the fixture.

Both sides had opportunities to win but it was Jamal Lowe who seized the golden chance deep into added time to see maximum points go back to Hillsborough.

Wilson caught up with RamsTVafter the defeat on home turf.

On losing to a last-minute goal…

I feel physically sick. It's a horrible feeling. It's obviously gut-wrenching to lose in that way. It's probably the first time in my career that I've lost that late on in a game like that.

On not coming away with a result after a positive performance…

It's a bit baffling. In terms of the performance we had complete control in the first half. Then in the second half, maybe that control went a little bit, but that is always going to happen. We needed the second goal and it didn't come, but Sheffield Wednesday took advantage of that and have turned us over. It hurts.

On the squad picking themselves back up ahead of a clash at Leeds United…

I'm looking forward to it. It will be a great opportunity to go and try to get a result. Maybe we need it. It's one where we're not expected to get a result by people, so it might be a bit of a free hit. We always go to win, but being the underdogs can help.

They're up there fighting for promotion. It might be what we need at the moment. We understand we've got a tough run of games. Today was a big one, but we have to pick ourselves up. We can't rest on our laurels.
