Derby County is delighted to confirm that the Women’s Professional Leagues 2024/25 Subway Women’s League Cup Final will be staged at Pride Park Stadium.
The venue for the fourteenth Women’s League Cup Final was revealed during the quarter and semi-final draw of the competition, conducted by Betty Glover and former player Toni Duggan live on the Barclays Women’s Super League YouTube channel on Monday lunchtime.
The quarter finals will take place 22-23 January 2025, with the semi-finals taking place 5-6 February 2025.
The showpiece fixture will then be contested at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 15th March 2025, kicking off at 12:15pm and broadcast live on the BBC.
Pride Park has previously hosted a major fixture in the women’s football calendar, with the 2009 Women’s FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Sunderland taking place in front of 23,291 fans.
Last season’s final, meanwhile, saw Arsenal secure a 2-1 extra-time win over Chelsea at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium in front of a record attendance of 21,462.
Speaking on the announcement, Nikki Doucet, Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s Professional Leagues, said: “We’re thrilled to have Pride Park confirmed as our venue for this season’s Subway Women’s League Cup Final.
“The stadium is one fitting for a showpiece fixture with it boasting the biggest capacity we’ve ever had for this final, and coupled with our new Women’s League Cup sponsor, Subway, this is very much a landmark moment for the competition.
“We’re looking forward to working with Derby to help create another exciting and memorable day for the women’s professional game and our fanbase.”
Derby County’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Pearce, said: “We are delighted that the Women’s Professional Leagues have selected Pride Park Stadium as the venue for the 2024/25 Subway Women’s League Cup Final.
“We are looking forward to welcoming a big crowd to Pride Park from not only the two clubs that reach the final and avid followers of the women’s game, but also the local Derbyshire community for what is set to be a showcase event.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for us as a football club to be involved in the continued growth of the women’s game and we are excited to work closely with the Women’s Professional Leagues over the next few months in the lead-up to the final.”
