Head Coach Paul Warne has urged his Derby County squad to top off a tough three-game week with another victory when they face Plymouth Argyle at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Warne’s side fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Stoke City last Saturday, but bounced back to pick up their first win on the road this term when they defeated Coventry City with a 2-1 success on Wednesday night.
Jerry Yates netted Derby’s first and was the catalyst for an own goal that saw the Rams take all three points against the Sky Blues.
Plymouth will come to Pride Park for Derby’s final fixture ahead of the upcoming international break.
Warne caught up with RamsTV to discuss coming into Plymouth off the back of a ‘great result’ in midweek.
On having a quick turnaround after a great performance against Coventry…
Wednesday was a great result for us, but energy levels are always a problem when you play on Wednesday night and then a Saturday afternoon. The lads trained yesterday and trained today. They are a little jaded, obviously, as they gave a lot in midweek. You have to give a lot to win a game, and I think it was one of our highest outputs in a match this season.
On Craig Forsyth breaking into the club’s top 20 all-time appearance holders…
It is some going from him that he's in the top 20. I could go wax lyrical about Fozzy forever. He's one of those players that encapsulate everything good about the football club. He's a really humble and intelligent player who understands the game and keeps himself in amazing shape. He's been physically brilliant for me and a real quiet leader in the group too.
On tomorrow’s opponents Plymouth Argyle…
They are not dissimilar to us in that they've done really well at home and been close in a lot of games away from home. Technically Plymouth are very good; they keep the ball, play without fear and have pace out wide. They’re three points behind us, and we think we're doing well, so obviously they're doing well too. Plymouth have the same points as Hull. We understood how difficult it was against Hull and it will be just as difficult tomorrow.
I'm well aware of their strengths, and I think you can just have to look at the league table now to know literally anyone beats anyone. We are going to have to be at our very best to get anything out of the game.
