Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne provided an update on the condition of David Ozoh when he sat down to preview the trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder was withdrawn early in the second half of the Rams’ 1-0 win over Cardiff City last weekend and he underwent a scan earlier this week.

Warne has confirmed that Ozoh is set for a spell on the sidelines, but he is relieved that the injury is not as bad as first feared.

Speaking to RamsTV, Warne said: “He will be out for five to six weeks.

“The movement was quite innocuous, and you always hope it’s a very small one.

“You prepare for the worst but it isn’t the worst, with an international break it will probably only be four or five games.”

The boss also delivered an update on midfielder Liam Thompson and forward Tom Barkhuizen, who were absent for the Cardiff win with muscle injuries.

He said: “Thommo is three to four weeks.

“Tom is less but it’s innocuous, it could be 10 days or it could be three weeks.”
