Derby County midfielder and Hartlepool United loanee Darren Robinson will join up with the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad for the UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifiers this week.

After being a stalwart in Jake Buxton’s Under-21 side and featuring in first team squad last season, the 19-year-old joined Hartlepool last month, on a loan deal that will run until January 2025. He has made two appearances for Hartlepool so far since making the move north.

He has racked up a total of 11 appearances through the age groups with Northern Ireland, after making his first appearance for the Under-18s in a friendly against Norway in March 2022.

Robinson will play in a Northern Ireland Under-21s side competing in Qualifying Group F alongside Ukraine, England, Serbia, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan. They will play England (Friday 6th September) and Ukraine (Tuesday 10th September) during the international fixture period.
