MATCH PREVIEW: Sheffield United (A)

Derby County will make the journey to South Yorkshire for their third away day of the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship season when they clash with Sheffield United on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Paul Warne’s team will be looking to turn their perfect form on home turf into results on the road after a 1-0 win against Cardiff City last Saturday cemented the Rams’ 100 per cent status at Pride Park Stadium so far this term.

Chris Wilder’s Blades side are unbeaten in all competitions so far in the 2024/25 campaign. They were last in action against Hull City on Friday 13th September, who they swept through, scoring two without reply on the road and will be hoping their good fortunes can continue at Bramall Lane.

Dynamic midfielder David Ozoh, who joined the Rams on loan from Crystal Palace in the summer, will miss out after sustaining a hamstring injury against Cardiff City.

On loan Wovles forward Tawanda Chirewa is stepping up his training after picking up a concussion while away on international duty with Zimbabwe during the September fixture period.

Winger Corey Blackett-Taylor got his first match minutes since picking up a quad problem in pre-season when he played the full 90 minutes for the Under-21s in their Premier League Cup clash with Bournemouth last Friday and could feature in the squad. The same applies to the former Sheffield United striker Conor Washington after a spell out of action earlier in the season.

Forward Tom Barkhuizen (calf), midfielder Liam Thompson (quad) and defender Jake Rooney (knee) are all still in rehabilitation stages from their injuries will not be part of the matchday squad.

Derby's allocation of tickets for Saturday's match have sold out.

Derby were handed an allocation of 2,721 tickets for the match and these have completely sold out.

Those fans without a ticket are advised not to make the trip to Sheffield, as they will be unable to gain access to the stadium.

Andrew Madley will take the reins in the centre of the park on Saturday. It will be the 22nd time Madley has refereed the Rams, his last coming away from home against AFC Bournemouth in the 2021/22 in the Sky Bet Championship season.

He will be joined by Assistant Referees Constantine Hatzidakis and Richard West with Scott Simpson taking on the Fourth Official role.

An applause will be held throughout the 8th minute in memory of Sheffield United Women’s player Maddy Cusack, to mark one year since her passing.

Maddy was a Derby County fan, along with many of her family members, and played for the club at a young age. Everyone’s thoughts at the club go out to Maddy’s family and friends at what must be a difficult time.
