As the new Championship season continues to ramp up, Sky Bet have announced they will be donating £10,000 to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for every match-winning goal scored after 90 minutes in the Sky Bet EFL this season.
There were a joint-record 90 winners scored in the 90th minute and beyond across the Championship, League One and League Two last season and Derby County will be looking to help beat that total in the 2024/25 season.
Derby County Women’s left-back Megan Tinsley was an instrumental part in launching Every Minute Matters in May this year. The ground-breaking campaign by Sky Bet, in partnership with the BHF, is on a mission to raise £3 million and recruit 270,000 football fans to learn CPR.
The campaign has already proved a big hit, with Sky Bet donating £380,000 to fund the vital work of the BHF and over 50,000 people learning CPR since the campaign launched.
The donation will only include decisive goals scored in stoppage time. Games that finish with a two-or-more goal difference will not be included.
There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year, equating to at least five every 90 minutes. Each minute that passes without CPR reduces the chance of survival by up to 10 per cent. Tragically, less than one in 10 people survive, often because those around them lack the skills or confidence to perform CPR.
