For the 2024/25 campaign, Derby County have once again linked up with Proud Partner Eden Tyres & Servicing to provide brand-new kits for two local junior football teams.
The ‘Kit 4 Kids’ initiative began in 2019, with the opportunity provided to nominate a team between the ages of Under-7s to Under-12s in Derbyshire for the chance to secure a new strip for the upcoming season.
Spondon Rovers Strikers Under-10s and Alfreton Town Juniors Lionesses Under-8s were chosen as the two winners this year!
Spondon Rovers were nominated by Richard Latham, the Grandad of one of the players, who was named as their ‘Supporter of the Year’ last season and a Derby County fan of almost 60 years.
He explained that the team, managed by Lee Haynes, are improving and starting to play some really good football, and how he wanted to repay the kindness of the team with a new kit after they showed their appreciation for his unwavering support.
The team were presented with their new strip at Pride Park Stadium by two members of Paul Warne’s Men’s First-Team squad, goalkeeper Josh Vickers and striker Conor Washington.
Alfreton Town’s nomination was submitted by the club’s Female Development Coach Becky Hall, who launched their first-ever girls’ training session in January of this year.
She has recently achieved her UEFA C Licence and as the team have started from scratch, they had not been able to source any previously-worn kit from older age groups, so a new strip was crucial for furthering the opportunity for the team to continue their development this season.
Derby County Women goalkeeper Lucy Jones met the squad at Pride Park to present them with their brand-new kit ahead of their first ever full campaign in grassroots football.
The club would like to extend a huge thank you to Eden Tyres & Servicing for their continued support with this fantastic initiative.
