Derby County’s Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been named among the 'Top Six' shortlist for the 2023/24 PFA Sky Bet League One Player of the Year.

The Rams' forward was a vital part of Paul Warne’s squad last term as the side secured automatic promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship, after two seasons away from the division.

Mendez-Laing has been recognised as a standout performer and made his mark during the promotion-winning campaign as he racked up 16 assists, the most in the division.

He also netted nine times during the campaign, including a crucial goal in the fight for promotion in a 1-0 success at Cambridge United on his 100th appearance for the club.

Mendez-Laing is shortlisted alongside Peterborough United’s Ephron Mason-Clark and captain Harry Burrows, Charlton Athletic’s Alfie May and Portsmouth duo Colby Bishop and Marlon Pack.

The award is decided through PFA members' (players) votes, and the winner will be announced at the PFA Awards on Tuesday 20th August in Manchester.
