Derby County are back on the road in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday when they head down the M1 to face Watford in their second away fixture of the season (3pm kick-off).


The Rams will make the journey to Vicarage Road in buoyant mood after picking up a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough last weekend, their first back in the second tier following promotion from League One at the end of last season.

Paul Warne’s side will come up against a Watford side in excellent form so far this term after picking up back-to-back league victories, claiming a 3-2 success at Millwall on the opening day of the campaign and defeating Stoke City 3-0 on home turf last Saturday, as well as hammering MK Dons 5-0 in Round One of the Carabao Cup.

On-loan strikerJerry Yates is in line to make his Derby County debut after serving a three-match suspension for a red card picked up at his parent club Swansea City at the end of last season.


Defender Eiran Cashin will miss out after being forced off in the early stages of last weekend’s 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough with concussion, while right-sider Kane Wilson is also out of action after picking up a hamstring strain in the victory over Michael Carrick’s side.

WingerCorey Blackett-Taylor is working his way back to fitness from a quad problem sustained in pre-season, while Jake Rooney remains sidelined with a knee injury he picked up in July.

Derby's allocation of tickets for Saturday's match have sold out.

Derby were handed an allocation of 2,104 tickets for the match and these have completely sold out.

Those fans without a ticket are advised not to make the trip to Watford, as they will be unable to gain access to the stadium.

Match Officials

Geoff Eltringham will take charge of Saturday’s match between the Hornets and the Rams.

The official took charge of 26 matches in the 2023/24 campaign, producing 102 yellows and four red cards in the process.

His last match involving Derby was the 1-1 draw at Burton Albion in December 2022.

He will be assisted by Shaun Hudson and Richard Woodward, while James Linington has been appointed as the fourth official.
