ahead of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division
fixture.
The Last Time We Met...
The Ewes started their
2023/24 FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division season back in August with
a 2-1 loss against Wolves.
Derby trailed 2-0 at the break, with Ellie Wilson and Amber Hughes scoring for the visitors, but they produced a strong display in the second half and Molly Sutherland pulled a goal back on the hour.
Despite pushing for a leveller, the Ewes were unable to avoid defeat on the opening day of the campaign at the Don Amott Arena in Mickleover.
Manager's Thoughts...
Manager Sam Griffiths is braced for a difficult clash against Wolves as Derby’s focus returns to their league programme.
Wolves sit fourth in the league standings after a strong campaign to date and Griffiths is looking to keep momentum on the Ewes’ side after lifting the National League Plate on Sunday for the first time.
She said: “It will be a really tough game against Wolves.
“We’ve got a busy week with our End of Season Awards evening on Tuesday as well.
“We won’t train ahead of Wednesday night’s match, but the girls deserve the chance to celebrate and enjoy the success we had in Sunday’s National League Plate Final.”
From The Dressing Room...
Skipper Amy Sims want the Ewes to use Sunday’s National League Plate success as a platform to end the campaign strongly.
Derby have three matches remaining in the league as they look to conclude the season in a positive manner.
Sims said: “We need to refresh and recover well ahead of Wednesday.
“We want to enjoy the moments where you have success, but we must refocus for our remaining league games.
“The season isn’t over yet and we want to finish as high as we can in the table.”
Match Highlights...
Full highlights from Wednesday's match will appear online on dcfc.co.uk following the final whistle.
