Derby County defender Curtis Nelson was named as the winner of the Jack Stamps Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign at the club’s End of Season Awards night on Tuesday.
The event, sponsored by McAndrew Utilities and Civil Engineering, saw the present, past and future of the club come together at Pride Park Stadium to celebrate the season’s achievements on and off the pitch.
Owner David Clowes was in attendance, joined by Chief Executive Officer Stephen Pearce, members of the club’s Executive Team and Club Ambassadors Roy McFarland, Roger Davies and Hannah Ward.
Head Coach Paul Warne, his coaching staff and players were on the guest list, while Sam Griffiths and her Derby County Women squad also joined the list of attendees and they were welcomed into the room to a standing ovation following their National League Plate victory over Cambridge United on Sunday.
There was representation from the Derby County Academy and Derby County Community Trust, too.
Supporters selected Nelson as their winner in an online vote and the Jack Stamps Player of the Season accolade follows the Punjabi Rams and RamsTrust awards he recently received.
Defender Eiran Cashin, meanwhile, was crowned as the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season for the second year in a row, following another impressive campaign at the heart of the Derby rearguard, to add to the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year award he picked up last week.
Award Winners In Focus
Curtis Nelson was named as the Jack Stamps Player of the Season following a fine first season at the club, after joining as a free agent last summer after leaving Blackpool.
The commanding centre-back has been an ever-present in the league campaign and his solid and assured performances saw him convincingly win the vote.
He also claimed the Players’ Player of the Season accolade for his impressive displays with 49 appearances and two goals to his name.
Eiran Cashin collected the Sammy Crooks Young Playerof the Season award for the second year running. The defender, named in the League One Team of the Season earlier this month, has made 50 appearances in all competitions and scored three times.
On-loan midfielder Ebou Adams picked up the Goal of the Season award for his stunning long-range effort in the 1-0 home win over Blackpool at the end of March.
Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith was the winner of the Save of the Season for his impressive and crucial stop in the 1-0 victory at Pride Park Stadium against Bolton Wanderers in March.
After netting 18 goals in all competitions to date this season, striker James Collins got his hands on the Highest Goalscorer award.
Midfielder Emily Joyce was the recipient of the Derby County Women Player of the Season award for the second successive year after another consistent campaign.
Fellow midfielder Emelia Wilson was named as the Derby County Women Young Player of the Season following another progressive year for the Ewes.
At Academy level striker Dajaune Brown, who is currently impressing on loan at Gateshead in the National League, was crowned as the Scholar of the Season.
The Academy Player of the Season award was presented to Under-16s midfielder Khace Gordon, who has made a handful of appearances for the Under-18s in recent months.
Off the field, the Brian Clough Award was handed to Derby County Women Founder and Club Secretary Sheila Rollinson.
