Derby County midfielder Max Bird says the 1-1 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town proved to be a 'disappointing' one in the end.

Bird gave the Rams the lead early in the second half but a late strike from Aaron Pierre ensured the points were shared at Pride Park Stadium.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game, Bird gave his verdict on the overall performance.

On the result...

I feel as though we chucked the game away, really. It was a poor goal to concede and wasn't the best of games. We found a way to get in front and take the lead but we couldn't keep hold of it and it's a disappointing result in the end.

On his goal...

I was in the right place at the right time and I've been practicing a lot on my finishing lately. I've spoken in countless interviews about me adding numbers to my game and I'll continue to try and do that. I just caught the ball well but, at the end of the day, it got us a point and not three.

On not getting the second goal...

The second goal is so important, especially at home. It was a poor goal to concede. We're still in a good position and we've got another big game Tuesday, every game is big now. We'll rest up, go to Exeter and see where we can improve and try and get three points there.

On Ebou Adams after signing on loan recently...

He's a great lad, a great player and has settled in really well. You can probably see that with his performances and he's freed me up to play a little higher up. He's come in, is a great lad, and a great addition to the squad.

On the aims for the team with 15 matches to go...

Everyone wants to get promoted in the top two. We don't want the play-offs, we want top two because we know we can do it. It was a disappointing result in the end but the best thing is we've got another game Tuesday at Exeter. We have no other choice but to move on and go again.
