Defender Sonny Bradley was quick to admit the side's performance in the 1-0 defeat to Bradford City in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy was not to the high standards of recent months.
The Rams exited the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at the Round of 16 stage on Tuesday night and Bradley, who was captain on the night, was honest in his assessment of the evening at Pride Park Stadium.
Speaking to RamsTV after the match, the centre-back gave his full verdict.
On the performance...
If I'm honest, that's probably the worst we've been this season. We didn't start the game well, they created more chances than us and we could never really get back into it. The mentality at the start of the game, we clearly got it wrong somewhere. We played poorly and got beat tonight and that's exactly what we deserve.
On signs of mentality being wrong...
I didn't see any signs of that. We did all the usual stuff before the game, we trained well leading up to it. I can't really say why it's happened but what is important is we don't sweep it under the carpet; we come back in, analyse it and work on why it happened and find a solution. We need to show a reaction and do something about it.
On the mood in the dressing room...
There's a lot of anger. Everyone is quiet and really disappointed. Conor Hourihane, as the captain, spoke well following the final whistle and that stuff will stay in the dressing room. The gaffer also had some words, which we deserve.
We need to react now. For us older professionals like myself, I've never played at Wembley Stadium and that was a great chance of getting there. That will be on my mind now.
You have no right to just turn up and expect to win games. If you do that, you get punched in the nose and that's what's happened tonight.
On the disappointment of not making Wembley...
There's a lot of players that dream of playing at Wembley. This was important to us and it's going to hurt for a while, but that's football and what you've got to do is try and win the next fixture and we'll do everything in our power to do that.
