Derby County defender Kane Wilson believes Wednesday evening's Bristol Street Motors clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s (7pm kick-off) can be used as an opportunity for the team to 'showcase' what they've got.
The Rams are looking to make it three wins from three in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stages and are keen to make it through to the knockout stages with their 100% record intact in Northern Section - Group G.
Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the game, Wilson previewed the midweek fixture.
On the comeback at Crewe in the FA Cup on Sunday...
We showed a lot of resilience. I think sometimes during this season when we've been down or needed a goal, we haven't shown the fight or perseverance to get one. We know we shouldn't have been 2-0 down at Crewe but we came back and we've earned a replay which we hope we can win.
It's not a loss, at the end of the day. It wasn't the result we were after but the replay is an opportunity to put it right and go and get a win from the get-go.
On his versatility...
It's been interesting for me. It's a learning experience! The skillset that I have probably moulds into a few different positions which is a plus side for myself getting on the pitch and it's been enjoyable. Football is a game; it's fun. It's what I enjoy doing.
On the Bristol Street Motors Trophy game...
There will be some players getting much needed game time and it will be an opportunity to showcase what we've got and try to get into the next round.
On the importance of the squad...
I am sure it's going to be important for the gaffer to have the option to rotate because some of the boys that have been playing in the league and the cup may need a rest, so it's important that we put on a good performance when called upon and show what we can all do.
We want to start putting back-to-back wins together so if we get a win on Wednesday in the Trophy and then win on Saturday against Barnsley at home, it will be the start of, hopefully, a good run.
