Derby County defender Kane Wilson says Tuesday night's EFL Trophy clash against Lincoln City 'can't come quick enough' as the side look to get back to winning ways at Pride Park Stadium.

The Imps are the visitors in the Rams' first EFL Trophy Northern Section - Group G fixture and Wilson is eager to get back on the pitch again after making his return from a hamstring injury off the bench in the 1-1 draw against Portsmouth on Saturday.

The right-back sat down with RamsTV on Monday afternoon to preview Tuesday's match under the lights at Pride Park Stadium.

On his return from injury on Saturday...

It was really good, really enjoyable and it was a really good atmosphere. To come on in the second half, I ended up getting quite a few minutes so it was good.

On how he's feeling following his return...

My legs are fine. I probably wasn't expecting as many minutes as I got but I've been prepping right with the medical team and doing every little thing right so my body was ready for it, which is credit to them and credit to the staff that helped me get back.

On getting his injury early doors with Derby...

It wasn't nice. Last season was tough when I was at Bristol City because I was out for three or four months with a knee injury but I came back and wasn't involved so it felt like I was injured for the entire season. To get a little knock just as things started to get moving here was frustrating but I've worked hard and got back on the pitch on Saturday.

On how he's settling in...

I love it. It's a brilliant club, it's an amazing club, and it's nice feeling like I've settled in really quickly. Being from Birmingham, which is only around the corner, it's nice being home too because I've got the benefits of having my own family really close. I've loved it and hopefully it continues.

We're the luckiest people in the world as footballers and we have the best job in the world but family is the most important thing. When I've been living away it's been tough so having my son back around the family here has been brilliant.

On whether his family have been to many games...

They've been to as many as they can. As a player I'm proud when they come because I'm proud they get to see me play in front of such a big audience. As a kid, it's what you dream of doing. To get 25,000-30,000 in attendance is amazing to play in front of, it's what you dream about.

On kicking on following his return from injury...

We want to kick on as much as we can as a team. We want to put some performances in and I know the fans want to see performances. However I can contribute to that, I'll work my hardest to do so.

On showing everyone what he can do...

The most I can do is try my hardest and I'll always give 100%. I'm hoping that can be reciprocated in performances and working from there.

On Tuesday night's EFL Trophy game...

It's perfect for us. After drawing on Saturday it did feel like a loss for everyone with it being a last minute equaliser for Portsmouth.

Tuesday can't come quick enough really so we can get at it, get straight into the game and put a performance down and get a result.

We need a game where it feels like we've dominated for 70 or 80 minutes of the game and going to get a result that matches that. We've got the capability and we've got the players to do so, there's some brilliant players here so hopefully it will turn like that soon.
