Derby County’s preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 Sky Bet League One season continued on Tuesday afternoon as they played a behind-closed-doors friendly at Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Head Coach Paul Warne’s side took on the Terriers at their Millers Oils High Performance Complex with less than two weeks to go until the start of the new EFL campaign.

A 90-minute workout allowed several members of the Rams’ squad to get more match minutes into their legs as they prepare for their final pre-season fixture against Premier League newcomers Sheffield United on Saturday at Pride Park Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Tom Barkhuizen, Conor Washington, Callum Elder and Louie Sibley were not involved in the game against Neil Warnock’s side as they continue to work their way back to fitness from their respective injuries at Moor Farm Training Centre.

Warne said: “It was another great test for us to take on a Championship side under the guidance of a vastly experienced manager who did an incredible job at the back end of last season.

“It was important for us to get some more match minutes into the players’ legs and also take some of our work on the training pitch into match situations.”
