Derby County can confirm that Pat Lyons is to step down from his position as Senior Professional Development Phase Coach.

Lyons will leave the club after 14 years of service, having spent the last eight seasons in charge of the Under-21 side in Premier League 2, supporting the progression of many young players into the first-team.

Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season he resigned from his position and, after amicable discussions with the club, he has been placed on garden leave for the duration of his notice period.

Lyons said: "I am naturally sad to be leaving Derby County as the club has been a big part of my life for a considerable period and I have enjoyed working with the staff and players at Moor Farm.

"I am incredibly proud of what we achieved as a staff; taking the set-up from what it was in 2009 to being a top-level Category One Academy. However, I feel the time is right to move on and take up a new challenge.

"I wish the club nothing but the very best moving forward and I am proud to have represented Derby County for so long."

Derby County would like to thank Pat for his work throughout his time with the club and for his dedication, commitment and professionalism and wish him every success in his future endeavours.

The process of recruiting a new Lead Under-21 Coach is underway and the club will provide an update in due course.
