Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne was frustrated with the manner of goals that his side conceded in the 4-1 loss against play-off rivals Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams put in an uncharacteristic performance against the Tykes which saw them concede four goals in a game for the first time this season.

Speaking to RamsTV after the Sky Bet League One game, Warne gave his thoughts on the overall display in Yorkshire.

On the game...

Our performance was really encapsulated by the fourth goal that we conceded. I don't think they ripped us apart, I just thought we were our own worst enemy. The goals we gave away - we had opportunities to tackle and to clear the ball.

We nearly got done once or twice playing it across the back line too slowly and it should have been warning signs, but it wasn't. They pressed us and they punished us.

I'll take the criticism for the second half display as I told the players at half-time to take less risks and I think they took me too literal and went too direct.

Although, that aside, they probably created five or six chances and as did we, but they took their chances.

On the chances...

We hit the bar and the post in the first-half and I didn't think our play was that bad in the final third but I think they put it on us a little bit and we had to stand up.

We've got plenty of games left until the end of the season and there's plenty of points available but we can't have another half-time or full-time team-talk saying the same thing. Nobody intends to go out and play poorly but we had a few out there today that weren't playing their best.

When you're playing a team in the top six you have to be at your best to come away with something away from home and today we weren’t.

I appreciate we brought a massive following and it's a pity for that but I would like to say thank you to them for supporting the team and those that stayed until the end because we lost 4-1. It was a disappointing game and we have to be better.

On the first goal controversy...

It was offside but the Referee reckons it hit a defender. I've got to be honest I can't see it but I've seen the linesman change his mind and then change it back again, which was odd.

Fundamentally for us today when we broke and we looked dangerous, they took us out and got bookings but when they broke at pace we didn't do the same thing.

That professional edge is the difference between winning and losing sometimes and leaving the ground today that's how I feel.

On return to Pride Park on Tuesday night...

I did turn up today full of confidence that we'd had enough and I thought at times our play was very good but we didn't have enough to win and that's on all of us.

We'll try and put that right on Tuesday against Chel now but we've got a big five or six games coming up and we can't let one performance break all the good work we've done. The lads are pretty confident but hugely disappointed and that's not a bad thing.

Plymouth have lost today and Wycombe have lost today - you just can't win every game. It's more frustrating because if we'd have won today we'd have gained ground on them but fair play to Barnsley they beat us and we've got to learn from it.
