Derby County midfielder Max Bird was 'buzzing' to see the Rams reach the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup following the 3-0 victory over Barnsley on Sunday.

James Collins, Tom Barkhuizen and Jason Knight all scored and ensured the Rams overcame their Sky Bet League One top-six rivals to reach the next round.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, Bird gave his verdict on the performance from Paul Warne's side.

On the game...

It feels good. It is a good result and we're in the hat for the next round. We started off really poorly to be honest but we got a foothold in the game, realised what we needed to do and where the spaces were but ultimately we are all just buzzing with the result.

On Joe Wildsmith's key save...

Joe has been phenomenal for us. He's got five clean-sheets in a row now and the whole back line has been brilliant. We scored at a crucial time to open the scoring and after that we made a few tweaks at half-time. We were much better after that.

On the second half performance...

We made a slight change and our two full-backs dropped deeper to stop their wing-backs pressing us and that gave me a little more joy in the middle of the pitch. Conor Hourihane and Knighty felt the same too. We got the second goal at a good time and we pounced on the opportunity for the third as well.

On the side's recent scoring record...

We're getting better every game, every week and every training session. When we look back at games, we are realising what the boss wants from us, what the coaching staff want from us and it's all clicking together.

We've got a great togetherness and morale in the team at the minute and although it's easy to say that when you're on a strong run, but we want to keep that run going.

On the captaincy role...

I'm loving every minute of it. It's a big honour and it's a nice touch from Curtis Davies; I always ask him if he wants the armband when he comes on and he always tells me to keep it.

There's times in game swhich are difficult and you've sort of got to get the lads going and realise what they need and during the week I'm building relationships. I'm loving it and I've just got to keep it going.
