Derby County bowed out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage following a 2-0 defeat to Premier League side, West Ham United.
Goals from Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio early in each half were enough to see the Hammers through and bring to an end the Rams' incredible 19 match unbeaten run.
Major Moments
Derby started brightly forcing the Premier League side back with their high press but it was the visitors that were able to take the lead after just 10 minutes through Jarrod Bowen.
Michail Antonio lofted a ball over the Rams defence for Tomas Soucek and the Czech nodded down into the path of Bowen who tapped into an open net from just a few yards out.
Paul Warne's men composed themselves following the opener and managed to get a foothold in the game - Conor Hourihane volleying just wide from the edge of the area with the Rams' first opportunity.
James Collins fired a speculative effort high and wide following a cross from Tom Barkhuizen and the latter bent one over from the edge of the box but that was the best that the first-half had to offer in terms of chances.
Jason Knight fired just wide within the opening 60 seconds of the restart but with the Rams on top it was the visitors who doubled their lead after 50 minutes.
A ricocheted clearance fell kindly into the path of Bowen who crossed for Antonio to head past a helpless Wildsmith and leave Warne's men with a mountain to climb.
The lads kept pushing to get back into the contest but weren't helped when Max Bird had to be withdrawn through injury after an hour.
Substitute Lewis Dobbin crossed a delightful ball in that was nearly scrambled home by fellow substitute Tony Springett as the Rams refused to give up on the tie.
Wildsmith denied Bowen superbly up the other end when put through on goal by Said Benrahma as the Hammers fired another warning sign of their own.
Dobbin was a huge bright spark following his introduction and was able to force Alphonse Areola into a low save down to his right.
The Rams never gave up but the Premier League opposition showed their class in seeing the game out and were able to bring this year's FA Cup journey to an end.
Full focus will now turn back to the league for Warne and his men when Morecambe visit Pride Park on Saturday.
