Pre-Match Views - Coaching Staff...
Derby County Under-18s boss Jake Buxton spoke to RamsTV ahead of the cup tie against with Basford, who are one of the lowest ranked remaining teams in the competition and have already played four times to reach this stage.
Deeping Rangers, Long Eaton United, Notts County and Lincoln United have been seen off to set up the tie with the Rams.
Buxton said: “It is the first time for quite a while since the boys have come into the FA Youth Cup at this stage, so we are coming up against an opposition that we aren't used to have been playing on a regular basis.
"It will be a test for the players and, first of all, our character has to be correct and we must understand what is required of us. It won't be easy; we can't go there with a swagger or big time attitude - we have to be bang on it.
"If our mentality isn't right, we know what can happen. We are approaching this match seriously and we have to go into it with a strong mindset.
"Our last game was two weeks ago, when we won 3-1 at Newcastle United. It would have been great to have a fixture to prepare beforehand, but we can't change that.
"The players have been training well and listening to the information that we're giving to them."
The Season So Far...
Derby's Under-18s are currently 13th in the Under-18 Premier League - North standings after six league outings so far.
The Rams' youngsters endured a tough start to the 2022/23 season with a run of four successive losses in all competitions.
However, they claimed a 2-2 draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of October to pick up their first point of the campaign.
Their first win of the season came two weeks ago as they came back from a goal down to claim a 3-1 success at Newcastle United, with striker Lennon Wheeldon scoring twice.
