Derby County make a swift return to Sky Bet League One action when Bristol Rovers come to Pride Park Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Rams will be looking to round off October by getting three points on the board in what will be the final game on home soil until December in the league.

In the lead-up to the match getting underway, dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you need to know…

Rainbow Laces

Derby County are delighted to be joining clubs across the country in their support of LGBTQ+ inclusivity to raise awareness of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, which runs between 19th-30th October 2022.

Rainbow Laces have brought visibility for LGBTQ+ people in sport and awareness around our experiences.

More than a million people have laced up in recent years, and two thirds of sport fans who’ve seen the campaign believe they have a responsibility to stand in solidarity for LGBTQ+ fans of the teams and sports they follow. However, there is still much to do.

In support of the campaign, specific matchday activity will take place for Saturday's match.

Rainbow corner flags will be used on the day to highlight continued support for LGBTQ+ fans, players and staff right across the game.

Rainbow captain’s armbands and laces have also been provided to members of the playing squad, while the big screen and LED pitchside advertising assets will also display rainbow colours.

The club’s social media channels are also branded in rainbow colours throughout the campaign to show its support.

Lace up. Speak Up. Make sport everyone’s game.

Team News

Captain Curtis Davies is facing between four and six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a slight meniscus tear in his knee during the 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town last Friday.

Wing-back Tom Barkhuizen also tweaked his hamstring in the game against the Tractor Boys and is set for a short spell on the sidelines.

Defender James Chester hobbled off during the 0-0 draw with Exeter City on Tuesday night with a calf problem and will be unavailable for Saturday.

Midfielder Jason Knight remains absent after the heavy challenge to his ankle and knee he suffered during the Papa Johns Trophy tie with Manchester City Under-21s earlier this month.

Striker James Collins is back in contention after serving his three-game league ban following the red card he received against Port Vale at the start of the month.

Goalkeeper Joseph Anang continues to recover from the arm injury he suffered in August and remains out of action.

Warne's Words

Head Coach Paul Warne spoke to RamsTV about the threat that Bristol Rovers will pose his side.

He said: "I think they are in the best form in the league apart from the top two. They have won three and drawn three from the last six, which is promotion form, and their last two games have been Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday - so they come in to this with a real buzz of confidence."

From The Dressing Room

Vice-Captain Max Bird sat down with RamsTV to preview what will be the final home game in the league before a month on the road.

He said: "We need to put on a show for them [the fans]. They pay good money to come and watch us and we need to entertain them and play a good, attractive style of football that they like to see."

About The Opposition

Bristol Rovers, led by former Premier League midfielder Joey Barton, are going well in Sky Bet League One this season following promotion from League Two in 2021/22.

Nicknamed The Gas due to their old ground 'Eastville Stadium' being situated right next door to the old Eastville gasworks, Barton's men won promotion to League One in the most dramatic fashion on the final day of 21/22.

A five goal swing was needed in their favour to topple third placed Northampton Town and despite the Cobblers doing their bit and winning 3-1 against Barrow, astonishingly, a 7-0 win for Rovers saw them leapfrog Northampton and take the final automatic spot.

Since that memorable day, they've started this campaign off in steady fashion and currently sit one point behind the Rams in 14th place going into Saturday's game.

They have just this last week completed the signing of free agent and former Manchester City and Celtic winger Scott Sinclair who returns to the club having started his career there back in 1998.

Match Officials

Martin Coy will take charge of Saturday's contest and will be assisted by Anthony Da Costa and Marc Wilson.

The officiating team is made complete by Lee Freeman, who is on fourth official duties.

Coy has been in the middle for just four games so far this season and one in Sky Bet League One. He's handed out 10 yellow cards, one red card and awarded one penalty across those four matches.
