Derby County midfielder Louie Watson has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for their upcoming international fixtures in October.

Watson has been a regular part of Wayne Rooney’s first team squad this season and has been rewarded with another call up to represent their country in their latest UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

Jim Crawford’s side face Luxembourg in Dublin on Friday 8th October, whilst four days later, they face a trip to Podgorica City Stadium to face Montenegro on Tuesday 12th October.

Watson, who started Derby’s first Sky Bet Championship game of the season against Huddersfield Town at Pride Park Stadium, has earned five caps for the Under-21s since making his debut in March 2021.
