TEAM NEWS…

Striker Colin Kazim-Richards will miss out after sustaining an Achilles injury in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United on Saturday.

The experienced frontman was carried off on a stretcher early in the second half and is having the injury assessed to determine how long he will be out of action for, but manager Wayne Rooney says it will be 'months over weeks'.

Youngster Jack Stretton, who came off the bench to score against Peterborough, is in line to make his first league start for the club against the Tigers.

Experienced duo Phil Jagielka and Sam Baldock joined the club as free agents on Tuesday until January and could feature in the matchday squad.

The pair trained with Derby during pre-season, and played in a number of pre-season friendlies, and are already familiar with Rooney's side and way or working.

Youngster Lee Buchanan could make the bench after returning to training last week following a brief injury lay-off, but Kornell McDonald willo again miss out with a hamstring problem sustained towards the end of pre-season.

Midfielder Jason Knight is out with an ankle injury, sustained in mid-July, which is set to keep him out for between 8-12 weeks.

Polish international midfielder Krystian Bielik, who suffered an ACL knee injury in January, is making good progress in his rehabilitation work but is still not yet in a position to return to full training.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS…

Manager Wayne Rooney offered his pre-match views to RamsTV on Tuesday and said: It will be another tough game.

“Hull are a team that can be direct at times as well as trying to play, so they can mix it up.

“We will have to be at our best to beat them.”

“Two individual errors cost us the game on Saturday,” the manager added. “It is tough because in some ways there’s not much you can do on that.

“If there’s one thing we can do better, it’s our game management to see matches out.

“It was a game we should have won on Saturday, so we need to get back out there at Hull and try to get a positive result.”

The full interview can be viewed in the above video.

PRE-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE…

Manager Wayne Rooney staged his pre-match news conference with the local and national media on Tuesday afternoon from Moor Farm Training Ground.

MATCH OFFICIALS…

Jeremy Simpson will oversee Wednesday night's game against the Tigers.

Simpson took charge of 29 games during the 2020/21 season, producing a total of 78 yellow cards and four red cards.

He oversaw one Rams match last season, which came in February in a defeat at Rotherham United.

He will be assisted by Akil Howson and Paul Hodskinson on the lines, whilst Marc Edwards has been appointed as the fourth official.

EFL SUBSTITUTE RULES…

The five substitutions rule has been scrapped for the 2021/22 season, the English Football League confirmed in July.

The rule allowing clubs to make five changes, as opposed to the usual three, was brought in following football's restart in June 2020 after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that games had to be condensed into a short period of time it was thought beneficial and allowed managers to make as many as five changes in three intervals during a match.

Clubs had a longer post-break between seasons this time around and so the temporary rule has been changed.

Teams will be able to name seven substitutes but only use a maximum of three.
