Derby County will take on Real Betis in a pre-season friendly in the lead-up to the start of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
Wayne Rooney’s side will welcome the Spanish top-flight outfit to Pride Park Stadium for their third pre-season match on Wednesday 28th July (7pm kick-off).
Betis finished the 2020/21 campaign in sixth place in La Liga and reached the Quarter Final stage of the Copa del Rey.
The Spanish side are managed by former Manchester City and West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini.
They ended last season with just one defeat in 16 matches, which resulted in them achieving qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
Their leading goalscorer in the 2020/21 season was Spanish international forward Sergio Canales, while their midfielder William Carvalho has featured for Portugal in this summer’s UEFA European Championships.
Former Premier League players Joel Robles (Everton), Víctor Camarasa (Cardiff City and Crystal Palace), Martín Montoya (Brighton & Hove Albion), Juanmi (Southampton) and Claudio Bravo (Manchester City) are also part of Betis’ squad.
Derby’s first pre-season friendly will see them face 13-time Premier League winners Manchester United at Pride Park Stadium on Sunday 18th July (1pm kick-off).
They will also play friendly matches at League Two Salford City (Saturday 24th July - 3pm) and National League Notts County (Sunday 1st August - 1pm), with the visit of Real Betis sandwiched inbetween.
