Derby County’s 2020/21 season concluded at the beginning of May with the club preserving its Championship status for the 2021/22 campaign.
The summer months regularly provides the opportunity to look back on the season and hand out several individual end of season awards.
The club discussed the merits of holding a virtual end of season awards ceremony in the early months of 2021, but these plans were put on hold ahead of the final matches of the campaign as the side sought to preserve their place in the Championship for next year.
While the decision has been made to not hold a full-scale event this year, the club wishes to maintain the integrity of the Jack Stamps Player of the Season and Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season awards by offering supporters the chance to select this year’s winners.
The prestigious awards are handed out at the end of each season and although the club acknowledges the disappointing nature of the campaign on the pitch, it would be remiss to not allow supporters to select the winners.
The following awards will be handed out:
Jack Stamps Player of the Season - VOTE HERE
Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season - VOTE HERE
Voting closes at 5pm on Friday 28th May.
For the Jack Stamps Player of the Season award, players that appeared in ten or more first-team games during the season, and were part of the first-team squad at the end of the season, are eligible to vote for.
For the Young Player of the Season award, players must be under the age of 23 and played in ten or more first-team games during the season.
The winners will be announced on Saturday 29th May across the club’s digital channels.
In addition, the club would also like to acknowledge the work of the dedicated NHS workers in the local area for their outstanding efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, we would like to dedicate the Brian Clough Award - which us usually presented to a club employee for their work during the season - to the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
The club is in discussions with the Hospital in relation to making a formal presentation at a suitable time in the near future.
