Derby County Academy coach Gary Bowyer has been appointed as the new manager of Sky Bet League 2 side Salford City until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Once the season has concluded, he will revert back to his role within the Rams' Academy.
Bowyer, who is 49, was appointed as the Rams’ Professional Development Phase Coach ahead of the 2020/21 season to begin his second spell as a coach in the club’s youth set-up.
His primary role saw him assist Senior Professional Development Phase Coach Pat Lyons in the running of Derby’s Under-23 side.
Bowyer, previously a manager at Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Bradford City, takes over a Salford side that sits ninth in the League 2 table and is six points adrift of the play-off places.
Derby County would like to wish Gary every success in the
remainder of the season at Salford City
and look forward to welcoming
him back to his role in the summer.
