New Derby County defender George Edmundson is aiming to impress after signing on loan from Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The 23-year-old has found opportunities north of the border limited this season but believes he is at an age where he needs to play games regularly.
Edmundson started his career with Sky Bet League Two side Oldham Athletic and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2018/19 season.
That earned him a move to Rangers, who are managed by Steven Gerrard, and he managed to kick on at Ibrox.
He scored twice as he made 16 appearances for the Gers in his first season, netting in the UEFA Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen, whilst this season he has appeared twice in all competitions.
The Manchester-born defender is looking forward to impressing and showing what he can do in a Derby shirt.
“I am really pleased to be here and I am just glad we could get the deal done,” he told RamsTV.
“It was about a week ago when I found out about the move. I had a chat with a few people and everything that came back to me was really good and really positive so I am just happy to be here.
“Normally with loan moves, certain players just look to get game time, but I am not treating it like that. I am here to play and show what I can do, not just get minutes.
“I obviously want to improve, but I am here to play good football and show what I can do.”
It’s been a long 24 hours for the defender who drove down from Scotland last night to link up with his new team-mates today.
Edmundson, who played 79 times in all competitions for Oldham over a four-year spell, believes he is at an age now where he needs to play games and is determined to do well for Wayne Rooney’s side.
“I feel like I have done most of my development time,” he said. “When you are 18 or 19, you get in and around the first team and then as you get older you establish yourself more.
“Now, at 23, I feel like I need to be playing week-in-week-out and show what I can do.
“As a defender I like to tackle and hopefully I can pop up with a few goals from corners too.”
