Wayne Rooney admits Derby County’s focus is firmly set on Tuesday night’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Rotherham United (7pm kick-off).

Derby will head north to take on the Millers seeking a fourth successive victory in the league and continue their rise up the table.

Wayne Rooney’s side picked up their third straight 1-0 victory at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday as Colin Kazim-Richards’ goal saw the Rams defeat Bristol City.

The win over the Robins saw the Rams build on the recent successes against AFC Bournemouth and Queens Park Rangers.

Rotherham occupy the final relegation spot in the league table and if Derby can defeat Paul Warne’s side it would see them move eight points clear of their opponents.

Rooney is taking nothing for granted, though, and is aware of Rotherham’s qualities after they ran out 1-0 winners at Pride Park in mid-January.

“I’m not really too focused on the table at the minute and the most important thing is we focus on our next game, which is Rotherham,” Rooney told RamsTV.

“It is a massive game for us and we will go into that one to try and get three points.

“It will be a tough one. I said before we played against them a couple of weeks ago that they are a tough team to play against; very energetic and they get to the ball quickly.

“We will have to be ready so we will prepare right and get ready for the game.”

He added: “If we go there and get three points, it will be a big turning point in the season.”
