Derby County Women will get their 2020/21 season underway on Sunday 20th September with a home match against Loughborough Foxes in the FA Women's National League at Mickleover Sports (2pm kick-off) - and supporters can be there with a limited number of tickets going on sale from 12pm today.
The Ewe Rams will become the first side within the club to allow spectators at their games for over six months, with initial ticket sales limited to just 225 for their opening game of the season.
Derby County Women Chief Executive Officer Duncan Gibb believes the chance to see a Derby County side in action will be a welcome sight for all Rams fans.
Gibb said: "It's been a long time coming to see any live football, we've all had to get used to seeing it on the television but now we have a unique opportunity for Derby County fans to pull on their shirt and come down and cheer the Ewe Rams on. I know that everyone will be wanting to get that feeling of going to a match again.
"There is nothing like seeing football live and there will be fans out there that have never been to see Derby County Women in action. I can safely say that those that have joined us before, often come back again and again. We want Rams fans to pull on those black and white shirts and get down to watch some live action and try to help us kick the season off on the right foot.
"Initially we are limited to 225 fans in attendance for our first game but after what we hope will be a successful delivery of this game, we can then double that and with a midweek fixture against Stoke City Women coming up on 1st October. That will be a mouth-watering option to whet everyone's appetite for more live football."
With measures still in place surrounding football and the safe return of spectators to matches after the COVID-19 pandemic, Gibb says a lot of hard work has taken place to prepare for the first match of the season and ensure safety is the number one priority.
He said: "We've been working around the clock to prepare for this fixture and we've moved to an online ticket-based system for matches currently that will gives us the safe way to track all of our attendees and ensure we are compliant with the NHS Track and Trace system. We want fans to be able to come to our matches and not have to worry about their safety.
"We've got an excellent team who will be there on the day ensuring that social distancing is adhered too, that sanitisation will be in place and that the safety is our main priority. There will be lots of staff around ensuring that we are doing the right things on the day.
"We'd love to see as many fans there as possible and I know that like me, everyone is itching to see some live football. Yes, it's a bit different to seeing football at Pride Park but I'm certain anyone who attends be presently surprised.”
