Derby County have today strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Poland international wideman Kamil Jozwiak, subject to EFL and international clearance.
The 22-year-old winger has joined Derby from Polish top-flight side Lech Poznan for an undisclosed fee.
Jozwiak has signed a four-year contract with the Rams which will run until the summer of 2024, which will see him link up with his international team-mate Krystian Bielik in Derby’s squad.
The wideman could make his debut for Derby in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Luton Town, subject to the relevant clearance.
Jozwiak spent the early part of this month with the Poland national side, where he appeared and impressed in their UEFA Nations League matches against Holland and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
He started both games to take his senior international appearances up to three, having made his first appearance for his country in November 2019 against Slovenia.
Speaking about Jozwiak’s signing, manager Phillip Cocu said: “We are very happy to announce the signing of Kamil Jozwiak.
“He is an exciting player with a huge amount of potential. Kamil is 22, so he has his best years ahead of him and he will be an important player for us.
“Kamil is someone we have closely watched over a long period of time and as a full international for Poland, we believe we are making an excellent addition to our squad.”
Jozwiak is a product of Lech Poznan’s youth system and he made his professional debut for the club in February 2016 at the age of 17.
His first season on the first-team stage, the 2015/16 season, saw him claim silverware as Lech Poznan won the Polish SuperCup.
Jozwiak came off the bench for the final 15 minutes of their 4-1 victory over Legia Warsaw, before enjoying a loan spell at GKS Katowice during the following season to gain first-team experience.
He returned to his parent club and went on to record more than 100 appearances across all competitions and established himself as a key player during the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.
Lech Poznan finished second in the Polish top-flight in 2019/20, three points behind champions Legia Warsaw, and as a result qualified for the Europa League first qualifying round.
Jozwiak playing a key role in his best season to date which resulted in his making his first-ever senior international appearance for Poland in November 2019.
Across all competitions he made 39 appearances, chipping in with nine goals – the club’s second highest goalscorer in the campaign - and a further seven assists.
On the international stage, Jozwiak has three senior caps to his name for Poland and will be pushing to make their squad for the upcoming re-arranged UEFA European Championships in the summer of 2021. Prior to making his international bow, he was capped by his country at every level from Under-16s right through to the Under-21s.
