Kaide Gordon has been named as the Derby County Academy Player of the Season for the 2019/20 campaign.
The Academy Player of the Season Award, presented by club partner Cameron Homes, is the first of the club’s annual awards - from Derby County Women, the Academy and first-team - to be announced over the coming days.
This accolade has been selected by Academy coaching staff members, headed up by Academy Director Darren Wassall, from the Under 9-16 age groups.
Gordon, who is the younger brother of former Academy graduate and current Mansfield Town player Kellan Gordon, is aged 15 but has already appeared for Derby’s Under-18s during the campaign.
The England Under-16 forward has been impressive form during the year and is currently part of the Under-16 age group, having been with the club since 2013 as an Under-9s player.
Wassall commented: “Kaide was the most exciting and creative player throughout the year and has shown a real improvement both in and out of possession, but we believe there is more to come too.”
In addition, the Academy has also recognised the efforts of youngsters Charlie Rutt and Dylan Williams.
On Rutt, Wassall said: “Charlie performed well for both the Under-16s and Under-18s during the year and has progressed really well with an excellent attitude.”
Reviewing Williams’ season, Wassall said: “Dylan has been superb both on and off the pitch during the season, setting the example for the rest of the groups.”
