Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, dcfc.co.uk is delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

Every day for the foreseeable future, we’ll provide you an image each day for supporters to enjoy and reminisce.

Branko Strupar Is Presented To The Media After Joining In Late 1999

Pictured is Derby County’s Branko Strupar after signing for the club in December 1999.

He joined the Rams with a reputation for scoring goals after netting more than 100 for Belgian side Genk during a five-year spell.

He averaged one goal every one and a half games, and that was enough for Jim Smith to splash the cash and bring him to Pride Park Stadium.

He most notably scored the first British league goal of the new millennium as he netted both goals in a 2-0 win over Watford, his first coming after two minutes.

He continued to score goals at a good rate, but injuries prevented his appearances for the Rams. He would eventually score 16 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.
