Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, dcfc.co.uk is delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

Derby County Lift First Division Title In 1972
By many, it is regarded as Derby County’s greatest ever season, and the two people in the picture were responsible for delivering it.
Brian Clough, who was born on this day in 1935, is pictured with his assistant manager Peter Taylor lifting the First Division title in 1972.
The pair had built a squad worthy of challenging for the Championship and got off to a great start, remaining unbeaten for the first 12 league games of the season.
They endured a sticky spell away from home during November and December, however, they found themselves fighting for the Division One title, along with four other sides, with limited games remaining.
After suffering a 2-0 defeat against fellow title-challengers Manchester City in the penultimate game of the season, Clough’s side needed to beat Liverpool, who were also fighting for the Championship, to keep their dreams alive.
John McGovern scored the only goal to defeat the Reds, however, they were forced to sweat it out as both Leeds United and Liverpool still had one game remaining.
Leeds only needed a draw, but lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst Liverpool needed to beat Arsenal, however, could only draw 0-0, as the Rams were crowned Division One champions, which secured European qualification.
