Derby County’s youngsters will make history on Wednesday when they compete in the club’s first ever game in the UEFA Youth League.

The honour comes as a result of an incredible 2018/19 campaign for Justin Walker’s side, and their reward for winning the Under-18 Premier League is a Round One tie with Belarusian side FC Minsk.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the first leg…

COMPETITION RULES

Derby have entered the competition via the Domestic Champions path.

This draw included the domestic youth champions of the 32 best-ranked associations from UEFA’s coefficient rankings.

These 32 teams will compete in two rounds of home and away knock-out ties, before entering a play-off round which will include the second-placed teams from the group stage.

Should the tie end level after two legs, the team which scores more away goals will qualify for the next stage.

If both teams score the same number of goals both home and away over two legs, no extra-time will be played, and a penalty shoot-out will decide who progresses.
